Intervention studies in general practice

The COVID pandemic has shown us how important the role of general practice is. The registrations in our EMR have had a significant societal impact. Thanks to our registrations, severe COVID could be predicted more accurately, and we could prioritize high-risk individuals in the vaccination strategy. The practices in the Intego network have a leading role in quality EMR use. Together with you, we want to further shape the power of general practice and also give you the opportunity to test new innovations that can further strengthen the position of general practitioners and underline the importance of our EMR.

With this video, we would like to introduce you to two innovative studies within this general practice registration network.

  • The first study deals with the effect of audit and feedback on the pneumococcal vaccination rate among adults in general practice. Building on the COVID-19 vaccination barometer, we want to investigate within the Intego network what the effect on the vaccination rate is when we give doctors direct feedback in their EMR about the vaccination rate in their patient population.
  • The second study is about detecting paroxysmal atrial fibrillation with the Fibricheck application in people over 65 with an increased risk. Practices that participate and are in the intervention group will have unlimited access to the Fibricheck application for patients with an increased risk of AF. Practices in the control group will provide usual care.

With these two studies, we want to investigate the added value of new innovations within the Intego network. The great advantage for practices is that the workload for participating in a study is very limited due to automated data collection. They can therefore focus mainly on the innovation, reducing administration to a minimum.
